Second... a call for participants: Dragoness’ Creative Contest!

Some people mat be aware that I am running an art contest over at Gaia Online. Well, I’ve extended the deadline to the end of October and opened up the contest to people outside of Gaia.

How does that work, you ask?

Well, I've added alternative prizes so that people outside of Gaia will have a reason to participate, and a reward for doing so. The top three winners will receive their choice of the Gaia item (October, November and December letters respectively) OR a commission from me (color, ink, and sketch respectively). Sadly I can't offer an art alternative for ALL 34 prizes, (I think I'd kill myself trying @_@;; ) BUT, I'm willing to offer DeviantArt or LiveJournal subscriptions to people who are NOT active Gaia users that win the lesser prizes. The subscription duration will depend on the level of prize won, so the higher the prize value the longer the subscription. (precise details on this will be worked out later) Don’t forget hat the Viewer’s Choice prize is also artwork from me!!

The only hitch is that you have to turn in your entry in the thread at Gaia Online. Sadly I WILL lose track of your entry if you don’t (it’s happened already, sadly enough XP). This requires you to register at Gaia, so you can post your entry in the contest thread. However, it’s free to join and you’re under no obligation to use your account any further, with the exception of me using it to initiate communication should you win a prize!

And lastly-- don't forget-- this contest isn't just for art, it's for writing and other creative outlets. Whatever you're good at - be it scuply, plushies, flash animations, you name it, I wanna see it! Let's get it ON, people!!

ALL of the very belated guest art is now up on the site for all to enjoy. I also apologize that my comments for each piece are a tad on the scrawny side... but after doing 60+ images in one shot you run out of intelligent things to say. XP But, despite that fact, let it be known that I treasure and enjoy every single piece of gift art I receive. This update was just guest art, so soon I'll add new artwork from myself, and update the collaborations section. So my character Jorie is now the featured character for December, and Justice has changed the rules so now anyone can enter!! I got married less than a week ago!!

Yes, that’s correct, I’m now married to the man I’ve been seeing for almost 10 years. Heh, now I need to figure out how to sign my art with new initials… Hahaha!

As for the other stuff in this little update…it’s got some pretty random bits to it, don’t ask why… Firstly, my e-mail address on the contact page is now correct. Stoopid me forgot to change it when I got a new address. *facepalms*

I’ve updated a few pieces of art that have been bugging me. Specifically “Arcane Will” (recolored the figure), “Sidhe Beauty” (fixed some porportion issues), and “Unveiled” (got rid of that nasty lens flare and redid the demascus texture on her weapon).

There’s also two new character bios in the Character Guide, having fun reading the novel I wrote for Jorie.

So I finished reading Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix earlier this week, and have had Potter on the brain ever since. I spent all of game yesturday doodling. This is Meryu as a human Hogwarts student, and then busts of Harry, Draco, Hermione, and Ron. I'm not so fond of the Ron, but I like Harry. There’s something funky about Meryu’s head that I can’t put my finger on, but I like her expression well enough at least.

I’ve tried to code this as best I can for most browsers; I know it functions fine in IE 6+ and Netscape 6+. Opera is another story. I came close, but huge amounts of frustration made me give up. If there’s any Opera users out there who can give me any suggestions to improve the site for that browser, please let me know. It’s not been tested in other browsers like Conqueror and Safari, and for that I apologize. If the site is seriously broken in those browser, please do post here and let me know, though I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to do anything about. =\

I removed the message board, but you knew that. In its place, (well only sort of), I’ve added a web/news blog. You’re reading it now. ^_^ PLEASE feel free to leave some comments (link below) so that I know all this work was worthwhile.

A lot of other things have changed around here; just about ever page has had a content revision. Most notable is the FAQ. I've recently changed my images usage policies, and rather drastically I might add. I realized I was being *cough* a tad over protective of my work and that I should really relax a little. =P

Okay, on to artwork, the stuff you all actually care about. =P~~~ Firstly, I worked so hard and long on this redesign, that the idea adding the TONS of new artwork as well just blew my mind. @_@ SO, there isn’t any new, recent artwork in this update. BUT! There is old, never-before-seen artwork included in this update. I basically went through all my sketchbooks and in progress folders and pulled all the things that I was under the delusion that I’d finish sometime before I die, and posted them on the site in their appropriate categories. So, hopefully that will tide you over until I can do the next update with all my recent work, and all the guest art I’ve received.


An Important Note on Gift Art, PLEASE READ!

I received a great deal of gift art during the site’s downtime. Sadly, due to three e-mail address changes, one virus, and two hard drive reformats, I’ve lost almost half of it. =\ Some art I have but I only have a name attached to it. I want to be able to post every piece I’ve received, with full credit & links, in order to show my appreciation to all those who take the time to create gift art for me. If you created gift art for me and don’t see it posted to this site, PLEASE resend it!!! I’m terribly sorry for having to inconvenience you, but I’m even sorrier I have to do this in the first place!
